I'll be appearing at LepreCon 44. This small but tenacious SF/F con is a great opportunity to get some one on one chatting with some of your favorite local authors, find lovely artwork, and generally have a good time. If the idea of going to a big show freaks you out because of crowd size, LepreCon is a great way to dip your toe into a fan convention.
I'll be doing panels, and copies of my books will be available in the dealers' room.
Opening Ceremonies 7pm - I'm just going to be there in support of some friends who are guests of honor.
1:30pm - 2:30pm, Executive Board Room - "The Gun Just Went Off! - T.L. Smith, H. Paul Honsinger, Jamie Wyman, Emily Devenport: The comedic hero accidentally winning the fight, or the convenient bus mowing down the villain, most of us prefer winning a fight with skill and purpose. This panel will discuss the types of training your heroes will need to be believable.
3pm - 4pm in Arroyo "The Lady Wears Combat Boots - T.L. Smith, Jamie Wyman, H. Paul Honsinger. From Queen Boudicca to Senator Tammy Duckworth, from the sea to the sky, women have been involved in combat. But women are different and deserve to be written as women. Learn how to make her real.
4:30pm - 5:30pm in Executive Board Room - "Researching Pasts that Never Were - David Lee Summers, Jamie Wyman, Ernest Hogan, Tony Padegimas: Alternate history, steampunk, and weird westerns are often set in pasts that never existed. The panel discusses researching histories that never were. What details can you change? What details shouldn't you change? At what point are you including too much of your research?
