Pass Me My Auryn

nes story bookHey, kids! Just call me---or more to the point, my book---the Childlike Empress. Like that quasi-useless character from the Neverending Story, my debut novel has... a new name! That's right. Henceforth, the book formerly known as "Technical Difficulties" shall be known as WILD CARD.

I have to admit, it feels weird. This week marks the two-years since I finished the rough draft of this book. For that whole time, the title has been the same. So changing it now is like changing the name of your two-year old kid. Awkward. Still wrapping my head around it. But the decision came from my editor that we should change it, and I have to admit it's for the best. She wasn't the first to suggest it, and while one of my beta readers threatened bodily harm if I should ever alter the name of my book...well, you don't argue with multiple editors.

We brainstormed a whole slew of titles. Some were hideous, some were close. Ultimately, we settled on WILD CARD.

So yeah, the process of making Tech--er WILD CARD an official book is going along swimmingly. Had one of those out-of-body moments last week when I got a round of edits back and they had formatted the word file to look more like an actual book. With a dedication and acknowledgements and everything. It hit me that this is really happening. November is getting closer and closer. It's exciting and terrifying all at once.

Anyway...that's about all I've got today. WILD CARD is getting tighter and tighter, and I can't wait for you to read it.
